Mona Radio Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Mona Radio stores on your device, what it sends over your local network, and what it never does.
Last updated: September 18, 2026
Applies to: Mona Radio 1.0, on every Apple platform it is offered on
Developer: Mona Apps

1. The short version
Mona Radio does not collect personal data. It has no account, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK. Mona Apps does not operate an advertising or tracking service, and Mona Radio does not send your information to us.
Radio communication is designed to occur directly between your Apple device and your Icom IC-705 over your own local network.
2. What Mona Radio sends over the network, and where
Mona Radio opens network connections only to the radio address you enter. The app accepts private local-network addresses and local host names, and refuses public internet addresses. It uses those connections to authenticate to the radio, read its state, receive its spectrum data and receive audio, and send the receive-side changes you ask for.
Mona Radio does not connect to a Mona Apps server; there is none. It does not browse or scan your network for devices.
Traffic between Mona Radio and the IC-705 uses the radio’s own local-network protocol. As with any device on a shared network, use a network you trust.
3. What Mona Radio stores on your device
- the radios you save: the name you give each radio, its local network address and port numbers, when it last connected, and a short fingerprint derived from the radio’s own identity so the app can recognise the same radio at a new address;
- your radio’s network user name and password, which Mona Radio needs to sign in to the radio;
- an optional callsign you may enter to label the spectrum display.
The radio’s network user name and password are stored together in your device’s Keychain, marked as available on this device only and not synchronised to iCloud Keychain or your other devices. They are used only to sign in to your radio. The other items are stored in the app’s own storage on your device.
Deleting Mona Radio removes its app data from your device, subject to normal backup and restore behaviour of your device.
4. Permissions
Mona Radio asks for Local Network access so that it can reach your radio. That is the only permission it requests. If you decline, the app cannot connect to your radio; you can change this later in your device’s Settings.
Mona Radio does not request access to your microphone, camera, location, contacts or photos.
5. Radio audio
Mona Radio plays the receive audio your radio sends. It does not record or save that audio; it is played and discarded.
6. Transmission
Mona Radio does not initiate radio transmission. It has no push-to-talk, microphone or transmit-audio function.
7. Diagnostics
Like most apps, Mona Radio writes technical log messages to your device’s system log. These record connection stages and error codes; they are not uploaded by the app and the app offers no way to export them.
If you have chosen in your device’s settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide Mona Apps with crash reports and aggregate diagnostics under Apple’s own terms and privacy practices. That sharing is controlled by you and by Apple, not by Mona Radio.
8. Apple services
Downloading, updating and running Mona Radio involves Apple services such as the App Store, which operate independently of the app under Apple’s terms and privacy policy.
9. What Mona Radio does not include
- no account, sign-in or registration with Mona Apps;
- no advertising or advertising identifier;
- no tracking or cross-app tracking;
- no third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK;
- no Mona Apps server or cloud service;
- no in-app purchase in this version.
10. Children
Mona Radio is a tool for amateur-radio operators. It does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
11. Contacting support and policy changes
If you email us, Mona Apps receives the information you choose to include so that we can respond. Please do not send your radio’s password or your Wi-Fi password.
If a future version changes how information is handled, this page will be updated and the date above will change.
