DeskLens Learn support

Real Content · Exact Context · Sentence Practice

Use your own audio, video, and live speech as material you can understand, replay, save, review, and practise.

DeskLens Learn supports these learning workflows:

  • Live Listening
  • Import Audio or Video
  • Transcript
  • Translation
  • Tap words in context
  • Exact word playback
  • Exact sentence playback
  • Vocabulary
  • Review
  • Sentence Shadowing
  • Settings / About
  • Interface Language
  • Manual Rename
  • Optional Smart Title when Apple Intelligence is available

Interface languages

The app interface is available in:

  • English
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Spanish
  • French
  • German
  • Brazilian Portuguese
  • Traditional Chinese
  • Simplified Chinese

Interface Language is independent from the speech/source language, translation target, stored Session language, saved Vocabulary, and vocabulary or Review history. Changing the interface changes buttons and labels; it does not rewrite your learning material or records.

Troubleshooting

Why does DeskLens Learn ask for microphone access?

Microphone access is needed when you start Live Listening and when you record yourself for Sentence Shadowing or another recording-related learning flow. If access was denied, re-enable it in the app’s iOS Settings. You can still import audio or video without microphone permission.

Why is my Speech language unavailable?

Confirm that the selected source language matches the material and that your device supports it. Apple Speech language availability and resources are managed by iOS; allow the required resource to prepare or download, then retry.

Why does Translation need a language or model download?

Confirm that the language pair is supported. If Apple requests a resource download, connect to the internet and allow system preparation to finish before retrying. Apple manages this resource; it is not a DeskLens Learn backend.

Why did my audio or video fail to import?

Choose a local file that iOS can read, such as a common m4a, wav, mp3, mov, mp4, or m4v file. Check that the file is available, not protected by an unsupported format or access restriction, and that the device has enough storage. A successful import is copied into DeskLens Learn’s local storage.

Why can’t I hear exact word or sentence playback?

Check the device volume and current audio route, then try the exact word or sentence again. Confirm that the source contains an audible speech segment. If playback still fails, close and reopen the session and contact support with the file type and the step that failed.

How do I change the Interface Language?

Open Settings → Apps → DeskLens Learn → Language if your iOS version shows an app-specific language setting. Otherwise, use Settings → General → Language & Region and adjust your preferred languages. This changes interface labels only, not the source language, translation target, sessions, Vocabulary, or Review history.

Why is Smart Title unavailable?

Smart Title is optional and depends on Apple Intelligence/Foundation Models availability, the device and operating system, Apple Intelligence settings, and model readiness. An unavailable suggestion does not block the session or renaming.

How do I rename a session without Smart Title?

Use Manual Rename, enter your own title, and save it. The manual title is stored locally and remains the supported fallback whenever Smart Title is unavailable.

Which iOS version does DeskLens Learn require?

DeskLens Learn V1 requires iOS 26.0 or later because its Speech and Translation workflows depend on system technologies introduced in that release.
