DeskLens Learn Privacy Policy
This policy explains how DeskLens Learn handles your learning material, local study records, microphone input, and Apple system services.
Effective date: September 11, 2026
Applies to: DeskLens Learn V1

1. The short version
DeskLens Learn does not require an account and does not include advertising, tracking, a third-party analytics SDK, or a DeskLens-owned backend required for its core learning workflow. Learning history and media records are stored locally on your device.
2. What DeskLens Learn itself collects or transmits
DeskLens Learn does not collect or upload your learning material to Mona Apps. There is no DeskLens AI backend, and transcripts are not uploaded to one for Smart Title or any other feature. DeskLens Learn does not use OpenAI, Anthropic, MiniMax, or another external AI API.
If you contact support, Mona Apps receives the information you choose to include in your email so that we can respond. Please do not include sensitive personal information or private recordings unless they are necessary to describe the issue.
3. Content stored locally on your device
Depending on how you use the app, DeskLens Learn stores the following in its local app storage:
- audio or video that you choose to import for study;
- sessions, transcripts, translations, word timings, vocabulary, and review history;
- recordings made for learning flows such as Sentence Shadowing;
- session titles and other local learning records.
Imported media is copied into the app’s own storage, so the study copy is independent of the original file. Deleting the app deletes its local app data, subject to normal iOS backup and restore behavior. DeskLens Learn does not provide account-based cloud sync or a backend recovery service.
4. Microphone and user-selected media
Microphone access is used for Live Listening and for recording-related learning flows such as Sentence Shadowing. The app does not silently record in the background.
Audio or video selected by you may be copied into local app storage and processed for transcription, translation, playback, vocabulary, review, or shadowing functions.
5. Apple Speech and Translation technologies
DeskLens Learn uses Apple Speech technologies for transcription and Apple Translation technologies for translation. These are Apple system frameworks, separate from any information that DeskLens Learn itself sends to Mona Apps.
Apple system services may download Speech, Translation, or other language resources as required by iOS. The first use of a language may therefore need an internet connection. Apple manages those system-level downloads and framework operations; DeskLens Learn does not operate them as a Mona Apps backend, and Apple’s own terms and privacy practices apply.
6. Session names and Smart Title
Manual Rename lets you choose and save a session title locally on the device.
Smart Title is optional. When supported and available, it may use Apple on-device Foundation Models or Apple Intelligence to suggest a title. No external AI API is used, and no transcript is uploaded to a DeskLens AI backend for this feature. Availability depends on the device, operating system, Apple Intelligence settings, and Apple model or language resources. Manual Rename remains available when Smart Title is unavailable, disabled, not ready, or does not produce a suggestion.
7. What DeskLens Learn does not include
- no account, sign-in, or registration;
- no advertising or advertising identifier;
- no tracking or cross-app tracking;
- no third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK;
- no DeskLens-owned backend required for the core learning workflow;
- no account-based cross-device sync.
8. Data deletion and policy changes
Because the app’s learning records are stored locally, removing DeskLens Learn removes its local data from the device, subject to normal iOS backup and restore behavior. Mona Apps does not maintain a server copy of that learning content for a separate server-deletion request.
If a future version changes how information is handled, this page will be updated and the effective date will change.
